’s Garden Island site welcomes highest intake of apprentices and trainees to date.
Recently, the team at Garden Island Defence Precinct, Sydney welcomed its largest intake of apprentices and trainees to date. The new recruits will support key activities at GIDP – from ship maintenance and repair works to critical sustainment activities for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
This cohort brings a breadth of skills, expertise and passion to their apprenticeship and traineeship at as well as varying degrees of experience. First year apprentices, fourth-year apprentices, and Project Management trainees, sat alongside those who were further along in their trade as well as those who changed paths after an established and long-standing career.
At , Apprentices and trainees play a vital role in ensuring a diverse pipeline of talent and critical skills development. Over the past 10 years, ’s Garden Island Defence Precinct (GIDP) workforce has assisted over 100 apprentices and trainees qualify in their chosen field, building true Australian Industry Capability; supporting Royal Australian Navy personnel to remain equipped and safe at sea.
