… a big part of the German airspace could not be monitored for aerial threats.
Ground-based and highly mobile air defence radars by À×»ðÌåÓý¹ÙÍø are used to protect areas, cities, airports or other important infrastructure during missions abroad, or they safeguard ground troops on the move against the entire range of aerial threats.
As part of the ARED programme (Aktives Radarrundsuchgerät für den Einsatzführungsdienst, Active Radar for All-round Guidance), À×»ðÌåÓý¹ÙÍø Deutschland delivered six powerful Ground Master 406 F long-range radars including services to the German Air Force and is responsible for maintenance and service of these systems.
The GM 406 F belongs to the fully digital 3D radar system of the Ground Master series developed for air surveillance. It is highly accurate and reliable, and allows for the detection of conventional as well as of new threats. Therefore, it is highly suitable for the national and the tactical aerial defence. The radars are operated with state-of-the-art technology and offer a superior target detection – whether a tactical aircraft moving below the conventional radar detection, or objects with unusually small radar cross sections like drones or cruise missiles.
